Privacy Policy

Effective 21 October 2026

Fit-Start is made by Obiara (obiara.com) ("Fit-Start", "we", "us"), which makes the Fit-Start app for iPhone and Apple Watch and runs fit-start.ai. This policy explains what we collect when you use Fit-Start, what we do with it, and what we never do with it. Questions go to hello@fit-start.ai.

The short version

What we collect

Your account. When you create an account we store your email address and your name. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only as a hash; we never see it. If you sign in with Apple, Apple sends us a sign-in token and the name and email you choose to share, which may be an address Apple relays for you. During setup you give your age, sex and height, and you can add a profile photo and a body photo; you can choose whether your account is private. You can add the country, region and city you live in to your profile; you type or pick these yourself. Fit-Start never reads your phone's GPS or precise location.

Guest sessions. If you continue as a guest, your workouts and settings stay on your phone. Nothing is sent to us except what the free trial needs (below). Guest data is not carried into an account you create later.

Your workouts. We store which routines you complete, at what level and when, your streak, a snapshot of a session you paused so you can resume it, and the schedule you set, including when your apps unlock.

Apple Health. With your permission, Fit-Start reads from Apple Health on your phone: your steps, walking and running distance, workouts, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, heart rate recovery, sleep and active energy. It uses them to show your steps and totals, to award points, to follow your heart through a workout, and to work out your readiness score. Your heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, readiness score and the heart summary of each workout are worked out and kept on your phone only; they are never sent to our servers. What does reach us from Health is limited to two things: the points your steps and recorded workouts earn, each with a short note such as "Run, 28 min", and, for a challenge you have joined, your day's steps, running distance and best pace, which the other members of that challenge see. Fit-Start writes one thing to Health: the workouts you do in the app, so that they count toward your Activity rings. If you use Fit-Start's app on Apple Watch, the watch reads your heart rate during those workouts and saves the workout to Health. Health data is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with data brokers. Each kind of data can be switched off at any time in the Health app under Sharing › Apps › Fit-Start.

Progress photos and check-ins. Photos you take to track your progress, including the body photo from setup, are stored privately in our storage, along with the weight you enter at a monthly check-in. Only you can see them, and they are never posted anywhere unless you post them yourself.

Exercise verification with the camera. When you turn on camera verification, the live video from your camera is processed on your phone by Apple's Vision framework to detect the position of your body and count your reps. Each frame is analysed in memory and then discarded. No video or image from this stream is recorded, stored, uploaded to our servers, sold, or shared with any third party or organisation. The only thing kept is what your workout history already holds: that a rep or a hold counted, unless you have chosen to help improve the AI (next). Camera access is optional; you can count reps by hand instead, and you can withdraw camera permission at any time in your phone's Settings.

Training data, only if you opt in. The first time the camera verifies an exercise on your account, the app asks whether it may keep the skeleton it detects to help improve the AI. If you say yes, for each verified exercise we keep: the positions of fourteen body points in each frame (nose, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles) as coordinates within the picture, how confident the detection was in each, the same points in three dimensions when your phone measured depth, the reps the counter called and when, the form score it gave each rep or hold and what it recognised the movement as, the exercise, level and target, the length of the exercise, and your phone model, iOS version and app version. This is never the video and never an image: the points cannot show your face, your body or your surroundings. It is tied to your account and used to train, test and improve the rep counter and to build the coaching features we are working on, such as form coaching, pose and form analysis and exercise recognition. Models trained on it belong to Fit-Start and are used only in Fit-Start. You can switch this off at any time under Settings › Help improve the AI, which stops further collection, and you can ask us at hello@fit-start.ai to delete what has been collected.

The apps you lock. Fit-Start uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls features to shield the apps you pick until your workout is done. Apple gives Fit-Start your selection as opaque tokens that identify the apps to the system but not to us. Those tokens are stored on your phone only. We never receive a list of the apps you have chosen.

The community. What you share is stored so that it can be shown to others: posts, reels and stories, including their photos, videos, captions and any sound you attach, plus your comments, likes, reposts, who you follow, your close-friends list and the accounts you block. Who can see your content depends on your privacy setting. A public account's posts can be seen by any Fit-Start user; a private account's posts are shown only to followers you have approved. Stories are shown for 24 hours.

Your subscription. Payments are made through Apple's App Store. We never see your card or bank details. From Apple, through our subscription provider RevenueCat, we receive which plan you bought, when it started and renews, whether it is set to renew, and a transaction identifier. We keep a copy of this so your subscription works on every device you sign in on.

The free trial. To make sure each phone gets one free week, the app creates a random identifier, keeps it in your phone's keychain, and sends it to us when a trial starts. It identifies the phone to Fit-Start only; it is not Apple's advertising identifier and it is not shared.

Finding friends. If you allow access to your contacts, the app reads them on your phone. To show which of your contacts already use Fit-Start, it turns each contact's email address into a one-way code (a SHA-256 hash) and sends only those codes to our server, which compares them with the codes of existing accounts and returns the matches. The codes are not stored, and no names, phone numbers or other contact details leave your phone. Inviting someone opens Messages or Mail; Fit-Start does not send the invitation itself.

Support. When you report a problem, we keep what you write, the app version and phone model so we can reproduce it, and a photo if you attach one.

Usage. The app records which screens you open and key actions such as starting a workout or a trial, along with your time zone, platform and app version. This is stored in our own database against your account and used only to understand how Fit-Start is used and to fix what isn't working. It is not shared with any advertising or analytics company.

Your answers at setup. The goals, activities and age you give at setup also shape the app itself: which routines come round most, how long the rests run, your daily step goal, and which kind of challenge is offered first. That happens on your phone, from your profile; the form scores and feedback the camera gives during a workout are worked out on your phone and shown to you, and are stored only as part of your workout history and, if you opted in, the training data above.

Your interests and your feed. To choose what the community feed shows you, we keep an interest profile: the goals and activities you pick when you set up (and can change under Settings › Goals & interests), and what you do in the community, namely which posts you view and for how long, which you scroll past, finish, replay, like, comment on, share or mark as not interested, and whose profiles you visit or follow. Each post carries topics its author chose or its caption suggests. These signals are weighted into a set of topic scores for your account, used only to rank your feed and to work out which content leads you to exercise. They are not shared with anyone or used for advertising.

Email. We send transactional email: confirmation of a trial or subscription, a reminder before a renewal, and password resets. We do not send marketing email without asking you first.

Notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your phone by the app. We do not collect a push notification token.

Our launch list

If you join the launch list on fit-start.ai, we store the email address you enter, the referral code in the link you arrived from (if there was one), and when you signed up. We use your address only to tell you about Fit-Start's launch. It is kept in our Supabase database, delivered through Resend when we email you, and never sold or shared for advertising. Every email we send has a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time at hello@fit-start.ai. We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it, and for no more than 12 months after launch.

How we use it

We use this information to run Fit-Start: to keep your account, schedule and history in step across your devices; to unlock your apps when your workouts are done; to verify exercises when you ask us to; to show your content to the people you have chosen; to manage your subscription and free trial; to answer your support requests; to keep the service secure and prevent abuse; to understand how the app is used so we can improve it; to train and improve the exercise-recognition models, using only the training data you have opted in to share; and to meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with the companies that help us run Fit-Start, and only what each needs:

Other Fit-Start users see what you share in the community, according to your privacy setting. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, and if Fit-Start is ever sold or merged, your data would pass to the new owner under this policy.

We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The camera stream used for exercise verification is never shared with anyone, because it never leaves your phone. Training data you have opted in to share is stored with Supabase like the rest of your data, is not sold or shared with any third party, and is not used to train anyone else's models.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Stories are removed from view after 24 hours. Snapshots of paused workouts are cleared when the workout is finished or discarded. You can delete your account in the app under Settings › Remove Account. When you do, or when you ask us to at hello@fit-start.ai, we delete your account data, including your posts, photos and training data, within 30 days, except for records we must keep by law, such as purchase records. Training data you opted in to share is deleted with your account, or sooner if you ask.

Your rights

You can see and change your profile in the app's Settings, and switch training data on or off there at any time. You can ask us to send you a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing hello@fit-start.ai from the address on your account. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, note that we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Apple Health

Information from Apple Health is used only to provide Fit-Start's features to you. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties for those purposes, and never stored in iCloud by Fit-Start.

Children

Fit-Start is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you are under 18, use Fit-Start only with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Progress photos, support attachments and community media are stored in private storage that only their owner, and the people that owner has chosen, can read. Access to our systems is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

Where your data is processed

Our providers operate servers in the United States and other countries. By using Fit-Start you understand that your data may be processed in a country other than your own, and we take steps to protect it wherever it is.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The current version is always available at fit-start.ai/privacy.
